About

Brighton and Hove Albion offer seaside fun to English football fans. Hailing from the seaside resort of Brighton in the south-east of England, Brighton and Hove Albion have been members of the Premier League since 2017-18. Nicknamed the Seagulls, the club plays its home games at the Falmer Stadium in Falmer, East Sussex. Brighton and Hove Albion was founded in 1901 and was elected to the Third Division of the Football League in 1920. For most of its early history, the club competed in the Third Division, enjoying its most successful spell between 1979 and 1983 when it played in England’s top division and lost the 1983 FA Cup Final to Manchester United, taking the match to a replay. To date, this is the only major cup final that Albion have reached. Since narrowly avoiding relegation from the Football League due to financial difficulties in the late 1990s, the Seagulls have started flying high once again. Successive promotions returned Albion to the Second Division where they stayed for 15 years before the club finally returned to the English top-flight after 34 years. Enjoying its main rivalry with Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion hopes to make its current stay in the Premier League a long one.
