About

West Ham United F.C. are one of London’s most famous football clubs and a mainstay team of the English Premier League. Three time winners and two-time finalists of the FA Cup, West Ham play home game at the London Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, former home of the 2012 Olympic Games. West Ham United were originally formed in 1895 as Thames Ironworks, reforming under their current name in 1900. Nicknamed the Hammers or the Irons after their industrial heritage, the club entered the Football League in 1919 and enjoyed the bulk of its success in the 1960s, winning an FA Cup and a Cup Winners Cup in 1964 and 1965. West Ham is also proudly known as The Academy of Football due to its record of producing talented young English players. The club contributed three players to England’s World Cup Final-winning team in 1966, and also kick-started the careers of several players in England’s mid-2000s ‘Golden Generation’ including Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, and Michael Carrick. Whilst fortune has been hiding for the Hammers for some time now, the arrival of a new manager and an influx of talented players have made The Hammers a team to watch this season.
