About

Perhaps one of the most famous pop and rock music festivals in the country, the Isle of Wight Festival has an esteemed and prestigious history stretching back to when it first began in 1968. It had a turbulent start, with the 1970 edition seeing the Isle of Wight inundated with fans excited to see Jimi Hendrix's last ever gig that it pushed the government to create new legislation preventing open-air gatherings of such platitudes from taking place without a license. Since then, it has gone on to rebuild it's reputation as one of the most electrifying festivals of a the summer season with an all-star catalogue of headliners from David Bowie to Jay-Z, Fleetwood Mac and Queen. Not only is it a brilliant festival for music fans, it's been named Family Festival of the year twice thanks to its relaxed and inclusive atmosphere, as well as its vast range of activities for any age level.
