The rugby union club hail from Greater Manchester. They are one of the oldest clubs in the country, beginning over a century and a half ago in 1861. Their successful history has seen them hold an outstanding run of 26 consecutive non-defeats, as well as being champions across various tournaments. Sale Sharks have won the English Premiership, the European Challenge Cup, the Courage League National, the Middlesex Sevens, the Glengarth Sevens, the Melrose Sevens, and the Cheshire Cup. The success of the club has attracted various sponsorships over the years. These include UKFast, McAfee and MBNA Corporation. Their current stadium also reflects their success, with a large capacity of up to 12,000. The new AJ Bell Stadium boasts state-of-the-art equipment and corporate facilities, and is home to Salford City Reds rugby league club. The team plays regularly at the AJ Bell and away, with tension heating up for games against rivals Newcastle Falcons. They also draw in a wealth of local talent from around the north west with their Academy.
