Snow Patrol

Biography

Snow Patrol are Northern Ireland’s modern rock titans. Founded in 1993 by University of Dundee students Gary Lightbody, Michael Morrison and Mark McClelland, the band rose to fame in the UK with their major-label debut album Final Straw in 2003 and found international stardom with their fourth album Eyes Open, which featured the smash hit ‘Chasing Cars’.

After forming under the name Polar Bear, Snow Patrol eventually changed their name due to a name clash and signed for the indie label Jeepster, releasing two albums for them: Songs for Polarbears (1998) and When It’s All Over We Still Have To Clear Up (2000). Dropped by Jeepster, the band were signed by major label Polydor and released Final Straw, which reached No. 3 in the UK Albums Chart and No. 5 in the Singles Chart with the song ‘Run’.

Snow Patrol’s fourth album Eyes Open really took them to the big time - ‘Chasing Cars’ received worldwide attention after it featured in the second-season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, breaking the US and becoming the band’s highest-selling single to date. The band have consolidated their position since, releasing their eighth album Wildness in 2018. Don’t miss the chance to catch them live.
